Safer Recruitment Training and Warner Interviewing use Safeguarding Competencies as a basis for exploring how safe and appropriate candidates are.   

These competencies are linked to the Finkelhor model of offending and help to assess whether the candidate has the appropriate motivation, self awareness, professional boundaries and ability to safeguard children.
